The ER605 V2 packs 5 Gigabit ports into a compact desktop gateway: 1 dedicated WAN, 2 LAN, and 2 more that switch between WAN and LAN — so a site can run up to 3 WAN connections (fibre, wireless broadband, and a 4G/LTE dongle on the USB port) with automatic load balancing and failover, instead of being stuck on a single uplink.
It's not just a router with more ports — hardware-accelerated VPN handles IPsec (up to 20 site-to-site tunnels), OpenVPN (50), L2TP, PPTP, and WireGuard, with 150,000 concurrent sessions and deep packet inspection across 2,421 application types. Firewall policies, DoS defense, and IP/MAC/URL filtering give it real perimeter security rather than a basic NAT firewall pretending to be one.
