The hAP ax³ is MikroTik's Wi-Fi 6 entry for anyone who wants RouterOS's full configurability — firewall rules, queue trees, VPN, the works — without stepping up to rack gear. A quad-core 1.8GHz ARM CPU and 1GB of RAM run RouterOS v7 comfortably, and the dedicated 2.5G Ethernet port (with PoE in/out support) means the internet connection doesn't get bottlenecked at Gigabit before it even reaches the Wi-Fi radios.
Wi-Fi 6 throughput reaches 1200 Mbit/s on 5GHz and 574 Mbit/s on 2.4GHz across the two external antennas, with WPA3 support built in. Four Gigabit LAN ports plus a USB 3.0 port round out the wired side, enough for a small switch's worth of devices without adding a separate switch to the setup.
What we spec for a client who's outgrown a consumer router's app-only configuration but doesn't need MikroTik's rack-mount gear yet — same RouterOS underneath, same VPN and firewall depth, in a desktop form factor with Wi-Fi built in instead of bolted on.
