The Purple is Firewalla's compact option — a 6-core ARM box small enough to sit next to a router (9 x 6 x 3 cm, 110g) that still processes a full Gigabit of software packet inspection. It's the only device in the range with Wi-Fi built in, so it can double as a travel router or a backup access point tethered to a phone's hotspot when the main connection drops, on top of its main job of sitting between the existing router and the network watching traffic.
Same core Firewalla feature set as the larger Gold-series boxes — per-device bandwidth monitoring, intrusion alerts, ad blocking, and app-based control — scaled to what a home network or small office actually needs: up to 5 VLANs, geo-IP filtering across 10 countries, and OpenVPN/WireGuard VPN server support for remote access, all managed from the same app whether someone's running a Purple or a Gold Plus.
Two Gigabit Ethernet ports (one WAN, one LAN) plus the built-in Wi-Fi cover a typical small-office layout — one uplink in, one switch or AP out — without needing a separate router just to give the firewall something to plug into. Low power draw (7-9W) means it runs cool and quiet sitting on a shelf or desk rather than needing a cabinet.
